As the sun sets on another fantastic week here in Minehead we are reminded of all of you who have come out to support us, popped by and joined us over the years. We have had the privilege of watching some of you grow up and the fact that Tequila Circus has become a yearly tradition for so many of you is truly special, worth more than any review and such a heartwarming surprise and bonus for what we do.
A lot of people ask us, how do you perform every day? The answer is simple, it’s you. Your smiles and “woahs” and hands over faces when you can’t quite dare to look but just have to. It’s seeing you grow up, showing us group photos taken every year. It’s watching kids in the audience wave their wiggly worms in response to Yuleimi’s ribbons from the top of the circus tent. Seeing how a single (or in many cases waterfall) of popcorn can extract such free laughter from even the most serious of people. There’s just one more week left here in Minehead and then it’s time to leave this safe harbour and set off again for the next pitch.

This year’s production was Shrek the Musical and boy was it a treat!
A huge congratulations to the cast and crew on such a spectacular and intricate production. Totally deserving of the standing ovation at the end 👏👏👏👏👏 Well done everyone, we very much enjoyed being in the audience for once. There are too many highlights to mention but let’s just say you were all our favourites and we can’t wait to see you again next year!

These one of a kind monarch butterfly wings have 30 metres of fairy lights hand sewn inside! And it took three days, more than several cups of coffee and a (not) small amount of battling with an uncooperative sewing machine to complete them 😱

Did you know, there is a circus festival happening in Mexico right now and Picorete just got awarded one of the highest honours!

Actually, this trophy is not from the festival but was awarded to Picorete by one of our biggest fans and supporters Faraz, who always takes the time to come and see us here in Cheddar. And for that reason, this trophy for us is worth more than any prize in any festival put together and most definitely is the highest of honour! Gracias Faraz!

Tequila Circus would also like to extend their congratulations to the Festival de México and all the participants on a successful celebration of circus arts.

It’s not just a ticket to the circus… it’s a ticket to a memory, to a place outside the everyday routine, where youngsters can imagine it’s them flying with butterfly wings. Where laughter is a piece of popcorn away, and adults can forget about responsibilities for a while.

Minchinhampton becomes Circus Central with THREE different shows performing over the space of one week. Pictured, Giffords proprietor Toti Gifford and Tequila Circus founders Juan Domingo Morales and Eleanor Morales Debney when Toti Gifford popped over with Graham Thomas to Tequila Circus to say hi during the week.

Some might think that circus is a cutthroat business with everybody defending their territory. And to an extent you would be right, with more and more circuses popping up, the cost of living being so high, competition is fierce. But sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts and planning we end up overlapping.

What a lot of people don’t know is that most people know each other in this business, we have family and friends that work on different shows. So, when two circuses (or more!) are in town, it’s a chance to catch up over a coffee, meet new faces, exchange tips, trials and triumphs of the season so far.

Thank you for taking the time to pop over and see us Toti and Graham, it was lovely to meet you after all these years.
